"To Music is my debut recording on the Whaling City Sound Label with a group of great regional artists and friends along with saxophone giant Dave Liebman. It was really inspiring for me to play and record with these musicians. I know Dave, Matt and Chris were inspired as well by Dave Liebman's strong musical aura and enlightened playing on the day and a half we spent in the studio laying down these tracks.

" I feel this recording is special because of the long and dedicated musical association Matt and I have had in creating and working with this duo prior to the recording date. The music includes some beautiful original compositions from Matt and myself as well as standards and some classic compositions from various jazz composers like Billy Strayhorn and Jack DeJohnette. I recall that Matt wanted to do the cd on the full moon at PBS Studios, recording the entire cd direct to 2 track, no overdubs in only a few hours. The music on the recording draws on many different influences. The various textures and colors from the piano and electric and acoustic guitars bring the music to different places while at the same time tying all the pieces together. This cd is a real jazz cd, zen like in the sense of the spirit in how it was done. In the moment, not so much concerned with perfecting as with being inspired.
